Coastal Buns (Spain): Creative Story

The French baker who never existed

Some brands begin with a logo. This one began with a person.

While developing Coastal Buns, I found myself imagining someone behind the bakery - a French baker who had moved to the Spanish coast but never stopped missing home. His recipes carried French tradition, while his new life was shaped by Mediterranean light, slower mornings and the rhythm of coastal living.

Without planning it, Jacques became the emotional center of the entire identity.

Two paper bags, one pink and one brown, printed with the phrase "Coastal Buns" and illustrations of a woman in a white coat and a man in a striped shirt, both holding breadsticks, with a coastal town in the background.
Three paper bags in blue, pink, and brown with illustrated bakery theme and the words "Morana Beach Coastal Buns" and "Move Like Buns Live with Ease" printed on them, positioned on a white windowsill with a window and exterior sidewalk in the background.

In the background, there is a drawing of a coastal village with houses, a table with wine glasses and a croissant, and a scenic view of the coastline. The image has a beige background with text that says 'Morana Beach Coastal Buns, Est. 2024, Move Like Buns, Live with Ease.'

From that moment, every design decision became easier. The typography, illustrations, packaging, colors, photography - no longer needed to explain the brand, they simply reflected his world.

The visual language blends French nostalgia with the warmth of the Spanish coast, creating a bakery that feels familiar even though it has never existed.

For my portfolio, I deliberately expanded this fictional universe beyond the packaging itself. Rather than presenting static product renders, I treated Coastal Buns as a living story - one where every loaf, pastry and illustration belongs to Jacques' everyday life.

Looking back, I think that's why this project resonated with so many people, since people rarely remember packaging alone.

They remember stories.

There is a bottle and a glass of wine on the sand nearby, with a license plate that reads 'COASTAL BUNS' and '2024.' Recognition

Coastal Buns became one of my most widely shared personal projects.

It was selected as Behance Project of the Day, reached more than 10,000 likes on Instagram and was exhibited at FBIF 2026 in China, where the organizers described it as one of the most photographed installations of the exhibition, noting that it frequently appeared in visitors' posts.

On a shelf below the poster, there are a pink package, a figure holding three oversized bagels, and a pink shopping bag with a cartoon of a woman in a lab coat.

What if mushroom supplements became a retro space odyssey?

As we ventured into uncharted territories, my mission remained clear - to bridge cultures, embrace diversity and craft experiences that resonate on a global scale.
